Angie’s List
The Client
Home services website Angie’s List is an online directory that allows users to read and publish crowd-sourced reviews of local businesses and contractors.
The Opportunity
Having gone through five CTO’s in under two years, Angie’s list accumulated much technical debt and failed to launch an MVP in partnership with third party vendors. The team was looking to completely redesign the platform, inclusive of a rapid roll-out to speed up development and releases, and turned to InRhythm for bootcamp training and embedded coaching.
The InRhythm Impact
InRhythm conducted two three-day bootcamps to train the Angie’s List team on Acceptance Test–Driven development – a development methodology based on communication between the business customers, developers, and testers. The session allowed for the team to collaboratively discuss acceptance criteria to then distill into a set of concrete acceptance tests before beginning development.
After bootcamp, InRhythm embedded two coaches onsite at Angie’s List for twelve weeks to help over 300 employees establish clear roles, responsibilities and predictable outputs. Together, InRhythm and the team at Angie’s List was able to increase velocity by 60%.
